Bo Shen, MD, FACG, is a Staff Physician in the Department of Gastroenterology and Hepatology at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation, where he completed a fellowship (including Chief Fellow) in gastroenterology and an advanced fellowship in endoscopy. Prior to the Cleveland Clinic Foundation, he completed an internal medicine residency at the University of Illinois College of Medicine at Urbana. Dr Shen also completed research fellowships in pathology and served as Research Assistant Professor in the Department of Pathology at Wright State University School of Medicine in Dayton, Ohio. Dr Shen is board-certified in both internal medicine and gastroenterology. He belongs to several professional societies, including the American Medical Association, the American College of Gastroenterology, the American Gastroenterology Association, the Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation of America, and the American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy. He serves on several research committees within these organizations and has received many awards for excellence in clinical research. He is an active manuscript reviewer for 12 medical journals as well as an abstract and grant reviewer for the American College of Gastroenterology and the American Gastroenterology Association. He is a section editor for the journal Inflammatory Bowel Diseases. Dr Shen is a National Institutes of Healthfunded independent investigator. His research is also funded by research grants from the American College of Gastroenterology. He is currently serving as Principal Investigator for the study of pathophysiology of pouch dysfunction and a number of clinical trials related to pouch diseases. He has authored or co-authored multiple journal articles, book chapters, abstracts, and patient education materials, and has made numerous oral presentations at national and international scientific meetings.
