Shire already has a wide range of products on the market and continues to use our search and development expertise to ensure that it can make more products available for these medically challenging diseases in the future.

As part of our history we have acquired and merged with a number of companies. This has led to a wide ranging portfolio of products outside our current primary therapeutic areas of interest. These products are useful for many patients and together continue to provide strong revenues that we are able to plough back into the development of new products for the future benefit of many more patients.

As a company, Shire has a strategic focus on meeting the needs of the specialist physician and currently focuses on developing projects and marketing products in the areas of attention deficit and hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), gastrointestinal (GI) and human genetic therapies. This enables us to gain considerable expertise in these areas and build long term relationships with specialist prescribers.
